Geniom - Customized microarrays on demand

Running the Experiment

  • use febit’s experimental protocols or apply your own set of parameters

The software module Instrument Control lets you assign sets of probes to the eight different arrays on the Geniom biochip. febit’s software then helps you to check whether all prerequisites for synthesis are met. You are enabled to control all preparatory steps before hybridization, as well as labeling and washing after sample incubation. (The actual incubation takes place in the external hybridization unit inside an incubator oven). In contrast to Instrument Control, which is directly connected to the Geniom machine, the Array Design and Data Analysis software modules run on any independent PC.

  • Choose a hybridization profile and select the arrays to be treated (washing and labeling).
    8. Selecting a Hybridization Profile

Choose a hybridization profile and select the arrays to be treated (washing and labeling).

febit recommends to hybridize all 8 arrays simultaneously, since temperature shifts during processing will affect all arrays, regardless of their exclusion from hybridization.

Hybridization profiles are sets of parameters for tasks like heating, washing, or marker injection that Geniom will execute sequentially.

For extra flexibility, hybridization parameters may be adjusted according to user preferences.

The resulting datasets are saved as user-defined profiles.

Below the hardware status panel, a list of prerequisites appears that have to be met before starting the actual hybridization procedure:

    • Adequate amounts of chemicals in good condition
    • Hybridization buffer reservoirs in the chemicals drawer filled
    • Waste tank empty and in place

  • Processing Hybridization
